Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 July 2026
ElderSpace ("we", "us", "our") is a companionship and wellbeing app for senior citizens. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using ElderSpace you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account & profile: your name, age, gender, phone number (WhatsApp), optional email, photo, home details (society, tower, floor, flat), interests, and an "about you" note.
- Emergency & safety contacts: the names and phone numbers you add for your emergency contact, society guard, and neighbours, used only for SOS alerts.
- Health & wellbeing data you enter: steps/activity, vitals (blood pressure, blood sugar, weight), medicines and reminders, mood check-ins, meals and water. This is self-reported and is not medical advice.
- Messages & activity: chats with companions and group activity messages (text and voice notes), and activities you join or create.
- Location: with your permission, your approximate location, used to find nearby companions and nearby doctors/clinics.
- Device & usage: basic technical data needed to run the app and send notifications.
2. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and sign you in using a one-time code (via WhatsApp or email).
- To provide core features: companions, activities, chat, reminders, health tracking, and SOS.
- To send you notifications and reminders you have set up.
- To generate gentle AI summaries and check-in replies from the data you provide.
- To alert your chosen contacts when you press SOS.
3. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as needed to run the app:
- Supabase — secure database, authentication and storage (hosted in the Mumbai, India region).
- Meta / WhatsApp Business — to deliver your one-time login code and SOS alerts over WhatsApp.
- AI provider (Groq) — to generate summaries and companion replies from the text you submit.
- Maps provider — to show nearby doctors/clinics when you search.
- Your chosen people — companions you connect with, and the contacts you add for SOS or family summaries.
4. Your health data
Any health information in ElderSpace is entered by you for your own tracking and to share with your family or companions if you choose. ElderSpace is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. In an emergency, use the SOS button or call your local emergency number (112 in India).
5. Your choices & rights
- You can view and edit your profile, contacts, and health entries in the app at any time.
- You can request deletion of your account and associated data (see "Delete Account" in Profile, or email us).
- You can turn location and notification permissions on or off in your device settings.
6. Data retention & security
We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, then delete or anonymise it. Data is protected with row-level security and encryption in transit. No method is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
7. Children
ElderSpace is intended for adults. It is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from minors.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with an updated date.
